CelerityCe How to Condition a CelerityCE™ Column

It is very important that you condition the capillary properly before using it.
DO NOT CONDITION YOUR COLUMN LIKE A CE COLUMN:
IT WILL BE DESTROYED.

Instructions for Conditioning and Installation of CelerityCE™ Bonded Capillaries

  1. Remove Column for the shipping box and from the inner package with care.
  2. Using an appropriate cutting tool to cut the column to desired length, if needed. View proper cutting technique.
  3. Measure the distance from the end of the capillary to the detection line-up. Remove protective, polyimide coating by using electric window stripper or fuming sulfuric acid. Get information on MicroSolvCE™ Window Stripper. Always use approved and appropriate safety precautions when performing this or any laboratory technique.
  4. Clean the newly created detection window with a lint-free cloth or appropriate solvent such as acetone; removing all residue from the capillary.
  5. Condition the CelerityCE™ Bonded Capillary by
    1. Rinse the inside of the capillary with CE Grade Water for 10 minutes. Use pressure of the CE instrument or you can use a hand held syringe and appropriate size polypropylene tubing. View information on hand pump for this purpose.
    2. Before use, rinse the inside of the capillary by running your run buffer/solvent system through the capillary for a minimum of 10 minutes.
    3. Do not use the same vial for the final rinse and the actual run buffer/solvent vial.
  6. It is highly recommended that you rinse the capillary with the above procedure between runs especially when changing buffers/solvents or samples.
  7. For Storage, rinse the capillary for 5 minutes with fresh run buffer and then for 10 minutes with CE Grade Water.
  8. For Long Term storage it is recommended that you follow step number seven and then cover the ends of the capillary to prevent the capillary from drying out.
