1. Will all MicroSolv Headspace crimp caps work for all 20mm, crimp top vials? [top]
Yes, most definitely. However, the crimp top for MicroSolv vials are tested for fit and form to insure precise crimping each
and every time. Always be sure to have your crimping tool calibrated for every 50 crimps. For more information about calibrating
your crimping tool, please contact Customer Service for assistance.
2. Which crimp cap is most used for residual solvent testing by the pharmaceutical industry? [top]
The crimp cap with silicone/PTFE septa is most used by the pharmaceutical industry to be in compliance with USP <467>. Our catalog
number 95025-09-1S is one of many caps used.
3. What is the advantage of using a “Pharmafix” type of septa? [top]
The advantage is that you get a better seal with the “Pharmafix” seal. However, you should be aware that it may not be as inert as
a silicone/PTFE septa designed for Headspace is.
4. What is the purpose of foil as part of a septa in headspace analysis? [top]
The purpose of the foil is general to be a barrier film. To keep any solvents or gases from affecting the septa in the crimp cap.
5. I heard that Silicone Rubber cannot be used at high temperature, is that true? [top]
No, but at very high temperatures, silicone rubber can become hard. Almost to the point of being brittle. However, most Headspace
autosamplers do not use temperatures high enough to cause this to happen.
