Can Your HPLC Column Do This?
Comparison of Neutral Compounds – Page 7

Click here to View “What is a Retention Map?”

On this page we compare the “Retention Maps” for four near neutral compounds of different Octanol-Water (Log P) partition coefficients on an HPS™ (type B) C18 column and a UDC Cholesterol™ column with TYPE-C Silica™.

As shown in the, the “Retention Maps” for both HPS™ C18 and UDC Cholesterol™ columns have exponential increases in retention times of the Neutral compounds as the % organic reduces ( % aqueous increases ) with little to no obvious effect when the pH of the eluent is changed. The compounds with the larger LogP are retained longer at any given % organic. This is very predictable.
