Inline filters | Protect your columns | 2um or 0.5um.
Our technical team strongly recommends that you filter every sample before you inject them into your column with a syringe filter. However, even with pre-filtering, your samples could agglomerate or precipitate in the vial or pick up particles from your injector. Also, common shredding of pump seals can find its way into column frits and that can ruin your column. An essential and most economical way to protect your columns and guard columns is to use a disposable, Cogent Column Filter or inline filters.
Reasons for using inline and column filters in HPLC:
Particle Removal - First Line of Defense.
Column Protection - Improve Column Service Lifetime.
Pump and Valve Maintenance - Reduce Pump Seal Wear.
Degassing efficiency - Helps remove dissolved air by degassers.
Microbial Control - Minimize baseline drift and increase.
Inlet filters act as the first line of defense by retaining particles, precipitates and microbes from solvents buffers and salt solutions. Saves you from pressure increases, contamination and poor peak performance.
The low-cost pre-column filters are finger tight fittings with an installed SS frit (other frit types are available) that are easily hand tightened into the inlet nut of the HPLC column or guard column. The stainless steel frit inside this filter is available in 0.5um or 2um porosity. When you see back pressure rising, it’s time to replace the filter with its trapped particles. One filter is included with each Cogent column purchase and inline filters are supplied with 25 replaceable filters and additional replacements can be purchased.
