The Coigent Column Filter is positioned upstream of the Cogent Guard Column Holder, with the effluent subsequently directed to the analytical HPLC column. This configuration is designed to introduce two stages of contaminant control:

  • The inlet filter provides primary retention of particulate matter originating from the mobile phase, sample matrix, or system plumbing.

  • Downstream, the guard column functions as an integrated protective element, offering both mechanical filtration of residual non‑dissolved particulates and chromatographic retention of dissolved chemical impurities capable of interacting with the stationary phase.

This dual‑mechanism approach reduces fouling, prolongs column lifetime, and maintains chromatographic performance.
