Guard Column Starter Set, UDA (wcx), complete with 5 each 2.0 mm ID x 10 mm long cartridges packed with 4 um, 100 A phase and 1 each guard column holder. Cogent TYPE-C Brand. 1 EA.

Additional Info:

40031-PG1 Cogent UDA™ (WCX) Guard Column Starter Set provides everything needed to begin protecting analytical columns while maintaining the unique mixed‑mode selectivity of the UDA™ stationary phase.

This kit includes a stainless steel guard column holder and five guard column cartridges, each packed with 4 µm, 100 Å Cogent UDA™ (WCX) TYPE‑C silica. These cartridges utilize the same Undecanoic Acid ligand chemistry as the analytical columns, ensuring consistent chromatographic behavior.

The UDA™ stationary phase features an 11‑carbon hydrophobic chain with a terminal carboxylic acid group, enabling:

  • Reversed phase (hydrophobic interactions)

  • Weak cation exchange (active at pH ≥ 6)

  • HILIC (polar interaction capability)

This matched chemistry ensures that while contaminants are trapped, method selectivity and retention remain consistent.

Each cartridge is packaged individually in protective, resealable Delrin cases, preventing drying or damage prior to use.

2.1 mm ID System Compatibility – Low‑Flow Protection

Designed specifically for narrow‑bore analytical columns.

  • Optimized for 2.1 mm ID analytical columns

  • Maintains low dispersion for LC‑MS and UHPLC workflows

  • Protects against particulates and strongly retained contaminants

  • Preserves column performance and efficiency

✅ Recommended for all UDA™ analytical workflows using 2.1 mm ID columns

Flow Rate & System Requirements (2.1 mm ID, 4 µm)

⚠️ Requires low‑flow capable HPLC or UHPLC system

  • Typical flow rate range: ~0.2 – 0.4 mL/min

  • Moderate backpressure (4 µm particles)

  • Designed for low‑dispersion systems

  • Compatible with UV and MS detection

✅ Important: Systems must provide stable low‑flow performance for 2.1 mm ID columns

✅ Best Practice: Replace cartridges regularly to maintain protection and chromatographic integrity
