Overview
This article explains the flexibility of the MICROSOLV Window Maker™ in producing detection windows at any point along a fused silica CE capillary. Because the device removes the external polyimide coating through a controlled heating process, it allows users to create windows wherever their analytical setup requires—whether near the inlet, outlet, or midpoint.
This capability provides broad utility for various CE instrument configurations and experimental designs.
Windows Can Be Created Anywhere on the Capillary
The MICROSOLV Window Maker™ is designed to offer maximum positioning flexibility when preparing detection windows on polyimide‑coated fused silica CE capillaries. Because the unit burns away only the external polyimide layer without damaging the underlying fused silica, it enables users to create a clear optical window:
- At any location along the length of the capillary
- At any position required for instrument alignment
- For single or multiple detectors
- For specialized analytical configurations
You are not limited to factory windows or preset positions. As long as the capillary is moved into the heating zone and held securely, the device will remove the polyimide coating cleanly, producing a usable detection point wherever you need it.
This flexibility is especially valuable when working with:
- CE instruments requiring non‑standard detection positions
- Custom detector placements
- Split‑flow or multi‑detector designs
- Unique research configurations
- Capillaries trimmed due to breakage or wear
If your method or instrument requires a custom detection point, the Window Maker™ can accommodate it.
