Overview

Di-Ad™ (Direct Adaptive) HPLC Connectors are designed to create reliable, low-dead-volume connections for chromatography systems. Their adaptive design allows compatibility with industry-standard 10-32 ports used by most HPLC column manufacturers.

When installed correctly, Di-Ad™ connectors help maintain column efficiency, reduce connection-related dispersion, and simplify hardware setup.

Compatible Applications

Di-Ad™ connectors can be used for:

  • Column-to-column connections
  • Column-to-guard column connections
  • Column-to-tubing connections
  • HPLC hardware interfaces utilizing standard 1/16-inch tubing and 10-32 ports

The connectors are designed to adapt automatically to varying port depths, helping reduce dead volume at critical flow path connections.

Installation Procedure

Step 1

Insert the Di-Ad™ connector into the column or fitting port.  While pushing the connector inward, you will feel resistance from the internal spring mechanism.

Continue applying light pressure until the fitting threads engage with the port threads.

Step 2

Rotate the connector clockwise until it is fully seated.  Finger-tighten only.

Additional force is generally unnecessary and may not improve sealing performance.

Step 3

For double-ended Di-Ad™ connectors, repeat the installation procedure on the opposite port.  Ensure both ends are fully seated and finger-tightened.

Step 4

For single-ended models, create a low-dead-volume connection on the opposite end of the tubing.  Proper tubing alignment is important for maintaining chromatographic efficiency.

Step 5

When configuring single-ended connections, 1/16-inch stainless steel fittings and ferrules are generally recommended on the non-Di-Ad™ side of the connection.

Why Proper Installation Matters

Connections between system components can contribute to:

  • Peak broadening
  • Loss of efficiency
  • Reduced resolution
  • Increased dead volume

Properly installed Di-Ad™ connectors help minimize these effects by maintaining consistent tubing engagement and reducing connection gaps.

This is particularly important at critical locations such as:

  • Injector-to-column connections
  • Column-to-detector connections
  • Guard-to-column interfaces
