Simultaneous Analysis of Common Energy Drink Ingredients
This method demonstrates effective retention and resolution of several common ingredients found in energy drinks, functional beverages, and dietary supplements operated under ANP/HILIC conditions. Complete separation was achieved using a simple isocratic mobile phase.
The method provides excellent peak shape and reproducibility while utilizing ELSD detection, allowing simultaneous analysis of compounds with little or no UV absorbance. Because the separation is performed under isocratic conditions, the method may also be adapted for use with refractive index (RI) detection.

Note: Sucrose, erythritol, and sucralose differ greatly in sweetness potency. Sucralose is approximately 600 times sweeter than sucrose, while erythritol contributes only about 60–70% of the sweetness of sugar. Consequently, beverage manufacturers frequently use sweetener blends to achieve desired taste profiles.
