Totally inorganic | Will not adsorb water | Use for prep or analytical | Silica hydride.

Cogent Silica-C™ is silica that has a Silica-Hydride surface that is completely free of carbon. This unique stationary phase will adsorb and desorb solvents commonly used in mobile phases very differently from ordinary silica resulting in fantastic benefits to the chromatographer.

Silica-Hydride columns have virtually no surface silanols remaining (less than 2%). This hydrophobic surface doesn’t have a strong association with water or other solvents; therefore, it doesn’t form a “hydration shell” and the subsequent issues that occur with all other silica-based columns. The Silica-C™ surface is so unique these columns are used in normal phase (NP) HPLC without having to concern yourself with the solvent moisture content.

For less polar compounds, the same Silica-C™ column can be used for aqueous normal phase (ANP) with acetonitrile and water. Fast equilibration allows for greater throughput per time compared to ordinary silica.

NOTE: Our technical support team strongly recommends that the Cogent column filter, included with each column, be used with all HPLC columns whenever possible. Click HERE for details.
